Week 2: Protecting Families
Our lives are constantly bombarded with demands from work,
school, friends, etc. Although these are
good things, too much can distract as from what matters most: the family.
“ …only those who believe
deeply and actively in the family will be able to preserve their families in
the midst of the gathering evil around us.” President Spencer W. Kimball.
What specific types of things will you do to ensure you preserve
your family in the midst of gathering evil?
Sometimes I feel my life is constantly on the go. As a mom of 6-month-old twins, school and church, I get overwhelmed. I really value time with my family. I notice when I spend time with them, I
am happier. Time is so important in this
life and how we us it matters. I have
been working on using my time to create memories and strengthen relationships.
A few things I try to do to preserve my family is
family dinner. Life gets busy during the
week, and family dinner is time for me to reconnect. We talk about our day, play with the twins,
and share our plans for the next day.
Sometimes dinner is hectic other times it is relaxing. But I know as I create this habit it will
help my family be stronger. Other relationships I value are with my parents.
Even though I’m married, I reach out to my parents for special time with
them. We also have our parents babysit
our daughters occasionally to build a relationship with them.
No matter how old we get or how far we live, family
is worth fighting for. In the
challenging times we live in we need to focus on strengthening our family.
